The Comfort Lake - Forest Lake Watershed District (CLFLWD) encompasses roughly 49 square miles in northern Washington County and southern Chisago County, including the Cities of Chisago City, Forest Lake, Scandia, and Wyoming. The watershed outlets to the northwest to the Sunrise River, which flows northeast through Chisago County before discharging to the St. Croix River.
PUBLIC NOTICE: Flowering Rush Herbicide Treatment on Forest Lake
CLFLWD, in conjunction with the City of Forest Lake, Forest Lake Lake Association, Washington County, and MN Department of Natural Resources, will be conducting the first of two rounds of aquatic invasive species herbicide treatment of flowering rush on Forest Lake during the week of August 3rd. The herbicide that will be used is called Tribune (active ingredient is Diquat) and will be applied by the licensed applicator company, PLM Lake and Land Management Corp. This year’s flowering rush treatment will consist of approximately 4 large treatment areas totaling 5.91 acres and 127 spot/scattered treatment sites. The Comfort Lake-Forest Lake Watershed District (CLFLWD) is committed to our communities, stakeholders, and staff. We are monitoring the rapidly changing situation surrounding COVID-19 and are following the guidance of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health. CLFLWD has prepared temporary policies that will be implemented immediately.
CLFLWD offices are officially closed until further notice. All CLFLWD employees will be working remotely during this time and will remain available by phone and email. Individuals are asked not to come to the CLFLWD offices but instead contact our main number at 651-395-5850 for information and the staff directory. With warming temperatures, you may be observing algae blooms popping up here and there. Fortunately, the majority of these blooms consist of filamentous algae which do not pose a heath risk to humans or pets.
